Prajna Vieira
A dynamic, soulful and uplifting blend of Hatha Vinyasa yoga with Kirtan Dance (temple-style folk dancing), Sanskrit chanting, story-telling and meditation. “Bhakti” is the yoga of the heart; the path of love. In this tradition, song, dance and story are spiritual practices designed to deepen our personal relationship with the Divine. Opening the voice in sacred chanting, the body through asana and dance, and the heart and mind through meditation can be profoundly healing and empowering. This class will have you moving, sweating, singing, and dancing with all your heart, and resting in the deep stillness of meditation that follows.
Prajna is an internationally acclaimed yoga teacher, and lead singer of the kirtan group “Mukti.” Drawing on 25 years of dedicated yoga practice, her asana teaching is largely influenced by a long time study and practice of Ashtanga and Iyengar yogas.
Raised in the Bhakti Yoga tradition, Prajna has been immersed in Sanskrit chanting, yogic philosophy and dance since early childhood. An ongoing intensive study of the Bhagavad Gita provides a spiritual foundation for her teaching, her personal practice, and her life. She strives to be true to the traditions of yoga, while leaving space for spontaneity and mischief. Above all, she cherishes the student-teacher relationship and lovingly pays forward the countless blessings received from her own teachers.
