Sewa Valencia's work is rooted in the belief that healing should be accessible to all, and she continues to create spaces where women can come together, share their stories, and heal collectively. She has been deeply involved in the arts and culture sector for decades, serving as a culture bearer and community builder, with the guidance to share culture, storytelling, and amplifying the voices within our community helping to keep our culture moving forward, and sharing ceremonies, teachings, and traditions. Her work is rooted in the reverence of our existence and the importance of cultural continuity.
For the past three decades, she has hosted women's circles, creating safe spaces for women to connect, heal, and share their experiences. Sewa is known in the community as a medicine drum carrier and a facilitator. She has been a guest speaker at various universities such as University of San Diego, Cal State Fullerton, and Claremont Colleges, and among others. She has been selected as a Cultural Practitioner for the State of California - Native American Day.
Throughout the years, Sewa has worked with students of various ages, guiding
them in traditional practices, as well as breathwork, meditation, art, the Four Direction movement, and the Medicine Wheel to help heal their trauma and birth their visions. She has dedicated her life to fostering cultural understanding, healing, and empowerment within and beyond her community.
